Spirits, Jun's sidestory chapter.



ISASHIKI SISTER #1





In Spirits it's pretty obvious Jun is having trouble moving on, unsure of what he is doing in the future. Ryousuke is better at moving forward. He doesn't dwell so much on the past, but I would argue even someone who can never afford to stop (not when you've got a little brother like Haruichi behind him) is facing certain uncertainties about the future.

This is someone who got rejected from his highschool of choice before on the grounds of his stature. Unlike Kuramochi or Eijun or Miyuki, I doubt Ryousuke would have been scouted by Seidou. He just decided he wanted to do to Seidou and tested in.



Ch 298. Ryousuke's last bubble like "It must be nice~ not having to worry" (the "how nice~ you have decided on your career choice scanlation") re: final exams and getting accepted since Tanba joined try outs and was accepted somewhere early on.

Even in a drama CD track Eijun mentions entrance exams and Ryousuke immediately shuts him down LMAO. Haruichi expresses concern that his older brother hasn't decided where he wants to go. Ryousuke quickly turns the subject back on him.

It's a bit surprising to imagine someone with such drive to not be 100% certain where he wants to be. He knows what he wants to do (play baseball) but it's just picking the path to get there.

Another page from Spirits. Ryousuke at least still wants to continue with baseball (also he mentions his parents a lot bc he really respects them), it's just a matter of who will accept him and deciding from there. That isn't settled until later. Whereas Jun is quite obviously unsure. He loves baseball and it means so much to him, but he still can't let go of that last game just yet.

Although these two seem like they belong on opposite ends of the spectrum, they actually are both immensely passionate people. You’ll find at times they’re often aligned similarly. Both of them have hit certain obstacles they’re unable to overcome: Jun had to quit pitching and switch positions in order to claw his way onto the first string. Ryousuke’s high school offer was withdrawn, and with his little brother’s batting talent, he instead specialised in bunting/hit and run as a technique player to keep afloat at a prestigious school like Seidou.
